Brian Hollis is a fully qualified specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who has chosen to devote his private medical practice to caring for women during their pregnancies and childbirth. Since completing his training in 1999, he has gained extensive experience in the management of high-risk and problematic pregnancies, working in major teaching hospitals both in Australia and England.

Brian has a special interest in fetal medicine and has over 12 years experience working within specialized feto-maternal units. He has a wealth of experience in the diagnosis and management of complex fetal problems and abnormalities. Through his ultrasound practice he offers a comprehensive fetal assessment service including prenatal screening and diagnosis for chromosomal abnormality. For women whose fetuses have complex abnormalities, he liaises with feto-maternal specialists, neonatologists and other specialists and works with couples to optimize the outcome of the pregnancy. Brian is interested in reducing obstetric intervention and normalizing pregnancy and labour for low-risk women. Background

Brian was born in South Africa, obtaining his primary medical degree at the University of Cape Town in 1985. He moved to the UK in 1990 where he joined the South West Thames Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar Training programme in 1992. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1997 and his Completed Certificate of Specialist Training (CCST) in 1999.

He worked as Lecturer and Research Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St Georges Hospital London, during which time he obtained the RCR/RCOG Diploma in Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound. He was successfully appointed Consultant in the Fetal Medicine Unit at St. Georges Hospital in 2000. As Consultant he was the lead clinician responsible for establishing an Obstetric Day Assessment Unit, and chairman of the Obstetric Risk Management Committee, and he has a significant number of research publications to his name.

In 2003 Brian and his family fulfilled a wish to immigrate to Australia, where he accepted the offer of a position at Liverpool Hospital, the tertiary level obstetric hospital for South West Sydney. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and currently holds a 0.5 FTE Senior Staff Specialist position in Obstetrics.
